In the upcoming drama, Asin with play the female lead opposite the 37-year-old actor.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor will play Abhishek's father in the film. "Mere Apne" is being produced by Bhushan Kumar.
Abhishek was last seen on the big screen in 2012 film "Bol Bachchan". His next release is "Dhoom 3", in which he will be seen reprising his character of ACP Jai Dixit. The film, which also stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra, will hit theatres on December 20 this year.
