Acting on a specific tip-off that Akbar Idris Khan had returned home from Gulf last evening, the ATS officials arrested him from his residence in Idris Compound in Goregaon-west, said the official.
Akbar, who is involved in more than 11 serious offences including house breaking, theft, loot and robberies in Mumbai, Gujarat was convicted under the Arms Act, the official said.
He was caught with his aide Shivanand Pandey in a arms case in January 2014, he said.
During the investigation it was revealed that Akbar went to Hyderabad, there he changed his identity and obtained passport using forged documents and left the country, the official said.
As he did not return to jail, the court declared him proclaimed offender, he said.
