District Superintendent of Police (ACB) Thane Region, Datta Karale told PTI that industrial inspector Ramdas S Suryavanshi (56) has been charged under Section 7, Section 13(1)(d) and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
He said that the action was taken based on a complainant who wanted to install a new electric metre, for which he required permission from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
The aggrieved consultant lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB which laid a trap and caught the industrial insepctor accepting the bribe money in the office of the Industries Centre.
Investigations into the case are on and an offence has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Wagle Estate police station, ACB sources said.
