ACB Thane division's Superintendent of Police Datta Karale told PTI that executive engineer Pralhad G Birajdar, was arrested yesterday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor.
He said that a search on his person yielded Rs 70,000 in cash.
The raiding team recovered Rs 12.40 lakh in cash from his house besides 400 gm of golden ornaments.
The ACB team also found bank account passbooks in which they found entries to the tune of Rs 47 lakh, he said, adding that it is being verified by the Raigad unit of the ACB.
The engineer was produced in a local court today and remanded to custody unti January 17, Karale said.
