"If we were to accept all the recommendations of Madhav Gadgil committee, then we will have no money to pay for the salaries, even salaries of the Judges," Parrikar told the state legislative assembly.
The Gadgil committee has recommended various measures for the protection of Western Ghats including ban on industrial activity in the ecological sensitive zones which would make huge impact on state's revenues.
Parrikar said that the state government has conveyed its objection to the concerned ministry over the Gadgil report and argued that micro and small scale industries can be allowed in the buffer zone of the western ghat.
"We have managed to off-set the impact on economy by adopting certain measures. But the impact on the people dependent on it continues," he said.
The chief minister said that he would soon lead all the 40 legislators to Delhi demanding special package for the state.
