Dinesh, who was picked in the 91kg category, is currently admitted in hospital and is expected to take at least a couple of months to recover from his injuries.
"Dinesh is ruled out of the Commonwealth Games. He will take not less than two months to even return to the ring," national coach Gurbax Sigh Sandhu told PTI from Patiala.
"Nothing has been decided on his replacement as yet. A decision on that would be taken later," he added.
Dinesh was returning to Patiala from his residence in Bhiwani in Haryana to attend the national camp at the NIS here.
This is not the first time that the boxer has been injured in a mishap. In 2011, he had suffered career-threatening injuries when he was attacked inside the NIS by unknown assailants.
He had won silver medal in the 81kg division in the 2019 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.
