Accused in minor girl murder case attacks police constable

A 21-year-old youth, already in police custody for allegedly stabbing to death his teenage cousin sister at her residence in Mumbra on Monday, allegedly roughed up a police constable who was part of an escort party taking him to court.
"The incident occurred last afternoon when Zahir Sabbir Ali Sayyed (21) was asked to board the police van that is supposed to take him and others to court for proceedings," said sub-inspector H S Kamraj of Mumbra police station.
Kamraj said when the police personnel asked Sayyed to speed up in getting into vehicle, he refused to board and instead slapped police constable Anand Potjale.

Sayyed, who had already been booked for murder, has been slapped with sections 332 and 353 of Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty and assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.
The 21-year-old, a resident of Nashik, allegedly stabbed to death his 16-year-old maternal cousin sister at her residence in Mumbra after her family refused to accept his proposal for marriage.
Sayyed had also attacked the girl's father Arif Khan (40) who had come to her rescue.
