Aggrieved by the alleged inaction by city police in arresting the person who threw acid on his daughter, Amar Singh Rathi filed a petition in the High Court seeking that the probe in the case be transferred to CBI.
On May 2, an unidentified man had flung acid on Preeti Rathi soon after she alighted at Bandra station. She was supposed to join the Colaba Naval hospital INS Ashwini as a staff nurse.
"The attack was well planned. Police are still clueless about the identity of the accused. One person was arrested but police is not sure if he is the culprit. The victim's father has said he has no faith in the investigation being conducted by the police and hence sought CBI probe," petitioner's advocate Gautam Pyarelal said.
Preeti was selected for short service commission in the military nursing service and was asked to report at the naval hospital in Colaba on May 15.
