"We have forwarded a complaint that had came to us stating the minorities education institutions are not admitting students of minorities to their schools, but enjoying minority status," MPMC secretary Nisar Ahmed told PTI today.
He said the Commission had received a complaint in this regard few months ago and "we forwarded it to the state Minority Welfare Department for action".
"After getting the complaint, we looked into the matter and found that the minority schools were not admitting minority community students," he said.
Ahmed alleged the state Minority Welfare Department has been issuing minority status certificates to educational institutions in violation of guidelines and set criteria.
To a query, Ahmed denied that the complainant MA Khan, of Citizen Welfare Forum, sought the scrapping of minority status of such schools.
Repeated attempts to contact Khan did not fructify.
