The chief minister said people are using social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp in huge numbers and some mischievous elements are using them to spoil the communal atmosphere and create hatred in the society by posting objectionable materials and pictures.
Yadav asked the police to issue a statewide Whatsapp number and make an appeal to the people to inform about any such incidents in the state, an official release said.
He also asked the DGP of the state to properly publicise the number and create awareness about the same among people.
The release said the identity of those informing the police would be kept secret. In the recent past some such incidents have taken place in Agra and Kannauj.
