The traders of Mandi Adampur observed a strike in the district today and blocked traffic on the main road to express resentment over a looting incident in which two armed robbers allegedly looted Rs 80,000 cash from a trader.
DSP Hanuman Prasad assured the protesters that the culprits will be arrested within two days and urged the traders to lift the blockade called by Mandi Adampur Traders Association.
The traders have threatened to launch an indefinite stir if arrests are not made within two days.
In a complaint filed with the police, Sachin Mittal, a trader of Mandi Adampur, alleged that five-six car-borne youths barged into his shop last evening and allegedly took away Rs 80,000 at gun point and also fired at him.
On the basis of the complaint, a case under Section 395 (dacoity), 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC and under the provisions of the Arms Act was registered by Adampur police.
No arrest has been made so far, police said today.
