Adequate security arrangement have been made in Karandih, on the outskirts of the steel city here, after one of the tribal group opposed the three-day "Rashtriya Adivasi Conference", to be organized by another tribal organization "Adivasi Sengel (Empowerment) Abhiyan" headed by former Parliamentarian Salkhan Murmu, from tomorrow.
The supporters of the Majhi Paragana Mandwa (MPM), today squatted on the main thoroughfare in Karandih opposing the conference and obstructed setting up of tent and stage for the event at Jaipal Singh stadium.
In view of the protest, adequate security arrangement have been made to maintain law and order, B K Chaturvedi, Officer-in-charge of Parsudih police station, said.
"We have deployed adequate force to maintain law and order", he said.
Dasmat Hansdah, leader of the MPM, said the concerned Gram Sabha did not grant permission to ASA to host the conference in Karandih as ASA Chairman, Salkhan Murmu, who is also the President of Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) and his supporters have been "ostracized" by the MPM for "indulging in anti-community activities" last week.
The ASA leader, howerver, claimed it had procured prior permission from the East Singhbhum district administration for the conference.
Meanwhile, Salkhan threatened to lodge a defamation case in Jharkhand High Court against the MPM leaders for its unilateral decision to obstracize him and his supporters.
"I will file a defamation case against MPM leaders Dasmath Handah, Durgacharan Murmu, Salkhu Majhi and Baiju Murmu for tarnishing my image in violation of article 21 of the constitution", Salkhan said.
