Aditi wins Sime Darby qualifier, to play maiden LPGA event

Aditi Ashok added another feather to her cap by topping the qualifiers for the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and gaining a spot in the showpiece event next month.
Aditi, who has been winning a string of international titles this year shot rounds of 70 and 71 in the two-round qualifier. With a total of 141, she was one shot clear of Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul (69-73).
The tournament was won in impressive style by Aditi, whose par on the 18th was enough to earn her the first place over overnight leader and 2014 qualifier Kanphanitnan who bogeyed the final hole.
The result saw Aditi finish at one-under par 141 on aggregate, and claim the accolade of being the first Indian player to compete in the prestigious Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, in what will be her first LPGA event.

The 17-year-old said, "I played really good the last two days. I put in a few more putts and I'm really happy with the way I played so very happy to win to the qualifier. Yesterday I missed a lot of birdies and I knew that if I created the same number of opportunities today then I would make a few more and keep myself in play and that would give me a shot at winning and it did."
The tournament saw a total of 24 players from Malaysia, India, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore competing for spots at Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.

Commenting on the achievement of today's qualifiers, Steven Thielke, General Manager of KLGCC, added, "Congratulations to Aditi, Nur and Cindy on their impressive achievement at this year's qualifying tournament. We're delighted to welcome both Aditi and Nur to the tournament for the first time. Each of these players is deserving of their place in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia following two days of intense competition here at KLGCC. We wish them every success on the East Course in just over two weeks time for what promises to be a wonderful four days of golf."
The third place was taken by Malaysian Nur Durriyah (70-74). Apart from third placed Nur Durriyah, also making the spot for LPGA event was another Malaysian Cindy Lee-Pridgen (71-74) who was fourth here.
