Speaking at the launch of Brahma Chellaney's book 'Water, Peace and War : Confronting the Global Water Crisis', Ansari said that the book highlighted a situation which is fast developing due to shortage of water.
"The sooner we start thinking about it, the better it is....The message should go down to every family and every child in the family that here is something which should not be wasted," Ansari said.
He said that while transporting water was expensive, new thinking had to be encouraged.
He said since in the past desert dwellers were aware of the importance of water but most of the others did not experience scarcity of water.
