The Madras High Court bench here today directed its Registrar (Judicial) to bring to the notice of Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry a matter related to the fabrication of documents allegedly by an advocate to help his client win a case.
The matter related to the appointment of a Principal in a college under the ambit of a State-run varsity in Tuticorin district which was challenged by a teachers' association.
Disposing of the writ appeal, the court said it was unfortunate that advocate V Dhayala Mani was found to have forged and fabricated records for the benefit of his client association but apparently without their collusion.
The court also said that the police having booked a criminal case against the advocate in this regard must be brought to the notice of the Bar Council for necessary action.
While representing the teachers' association which had challenged the appointment of Mohan Raj as principal, the advocate had allegedly fabricated an official communication to tilt the case in his client's favour.
The petitioner association submitted that the fabrication was done without their knowledge.
The court directed the Registrar to forward the papers to the Bar Council within two weeks.
