The club has also confirmed signing of Cornell Glen, who will be joining the NorthEast United ranks. Both Glen and Chansa were cleared by ISL organising committee to be the designated International players for NorthEast United.
Chansa, a key member of the 2012 African Cup of Nations winning Zambian side, last played for Zambian Premier League club side Zanaco FC before making his move to NorthEast United. He has also featured for clubs such as Helsingborgs IF in the Swedish Top Division and Orlando Pirates in the South African Premier Soccer League.
Chansa, whose natural position is in central midfield, was quoted as saying, "I am happy and look forward to this new challenge. I will do my best to contribute in the team's success in any way I can and repay the faith shown in me by the team management."
2006 World Cupper and Trinidad & Tobago's 5th highest goal scorer ever, Glen, will also be playing for NorthEast United FC. Glen, who scored 13 goals for Shillong Lajong FC in the 2013-14 I-League season, was the only international player from the I-League to have got a go ahead from the League Organising Committee to play in the ISL.
John Abraham, co-owner of NorthEast United & Lajong FC said: "To get an African Cup of Nations Winner & a World Cupper brings in a lot of experience and competitive edge to the team. We are happy to have secured their services and looking forward to having them play for the teams."
Larsing 'Ming' Sawyan, Managing Director at Lajong FC, said, "Both Cornell and Chansa are proven performers who have competed at the highest levels. We are happy to have these accomplished and technically gifted players playing alongside our local boys.
