The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an advisory today stating that hailstorm-like situation may develop over parts of Maharashtra.
The Met officials made it clear that it was not a warning, but an advisory issued at a very primary stage.
The state government officials said that nonetheless the farmers need to be cautioned about it in advance.
"The system is developing and it may lead to hailstorm from February 10 onwards till February 14 in Marathwada and Vidarbha. This type of rains could cause heavy losses and damages to the properties and cattle," a government official said.
The situation is expected to come to normal by February 14, the Met officials said.
