"After Sadhvi Jyoti's controversial remarks, the party's image been hurt in the national capital. To ensure that such episodes are not repeated, the party has decided to carefully choose the MPs for its public meetings," said a senior BJP leader.
The BJP leader also said that during the campaigning for elections, rival parties would definitely raise the issue to try and corner the party.
Jyoti had stoked a controversy by allegedly asking voters to elect the "sons of Rama" and not "illegitimate sons" at a BJP rally in Dwarka on Monday evening.
The Minister of State for Food Processing, who was inducted into the Union Cabinet last month, has already expressed "deep regret" and apologised for her comments, but the opposition has been demanding her sacking.
