Congress national spokesperson Dipender Singh Hooda was here to brief reporters about the NDA government's first year in office.
According to the Congress MP from Haryana, the Central government has failed to address key issues concerning 60 per cent of the Indian population.
During the press meet, Hooda claimed that agricultural growth has gone down from 4.7 per cent in 2013-14 to merely 1.1 per cent in 2014, under the Modi government.
"Sixty per cent of India's population is dependent on agriculture. As per the latest Economic Survey, agricultural growth has touched a new low of just 1.1 per cent in 2014-15, which was 4.7 per cent during 2013-14. It showed that a large population is now under severe crisis," Hooda said.
He said that there is a huge decrease in agricultural exports as well as the area under cultivation. He also compared the performance of the past UPA government in this sector.
"Agricultural exports had jumped from USD 7.5 billion in 2003-4 to USD 42.6 billion in 2013-14 when Congress-led UPA government demitted office. Now, due to the Modi government's inaction, it is likely that we will see a decrease of nearly 29 per cent in exports in 2014-15," Hooda said.
