An Air India plane was hit by a catering van today at the Newark international airport in the US after it landed from Mumbai.
The incident happened when the catering van was being aligned with the plane, a Boeing 777, operating on Mumbai-Newark route with flight number AI-191. Local engineers are assessing the damaged caused to the aircraft, Air India sources.
The passengers, whose number was not immediately available, of the flight were being accommodated on Air India's New York flight as it would be 'night-time curfew' at the airport by the time engineers give their report, they said.
Further details are awaited.
