AIADMK councillor's self-immolation bid foiled

An AIADMK Councillor in Tirupur City Corporation today attempted to immolate himself, alleging neglect of his ward by authorities in development works.
45-year old Kannappan, representing 45th ward, doused himself with kerosene at the entrance of District Collectorate, and attempted to light a match stick.
However, some partymen and police overpowered him and took out of the premises, police said.
