The polls that will begin on December 11, go on till April 25 next year.Polls will also be held for party positions in regions outside Tamil Nadu including Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Andman Islands.
Following the unanimous re-election of Jayalalithaa as party General Secretary on August 29 this year for the record seventh time, the party has announced polls to elect State and district level office-bearers and members for the general council.
"The polls have been announced in accordance with party rules that elections should be held once in five years," Jayalalithaa said here in a party release.
The party has released a detailed schedule for elections in various districts in Tamil Nadu.
In 2009, the party held its last elections to elect office bearers.
