In rally here, he said the DMK government had implemented a scheme to convert sea water to drinking water at Narippaiyur in this district. "But as soon as Jayalalithaa came to power she closed the scheme," he alleged.
Stalin claimed it was DMK which had completed the Rs 2,000 crore Hogenakkal Integrated drinking water project to solve the drinking water needs of the people of Krishnakiri and Dharmapuri districts.
"But no maintenance was done on the project after AIADMK came to power," he claimed.
"Jayalalithaa never thought about or met the people for the last five years. Now she is coming to the people and asking for votes," he said.
Stalin also referred to the fishermens' issue, saying about 3,000 fishermen from this district had been arrested and their 300 boatsseized by Sri Lankan navy personnel in the last five years. Apart from this,18 boats had been damaged. But no AIADMK MP had raised the issue in Parliament, he claimed.
Stalin assured that all promises in DMK's election manifesto would be kept if the party came to power. These include constructinga medical college in Ramanathapuram, the Malataru Dam project and rebate on students' education loans, he said.
