AIADMK stopped good schemes implemented by DMK, claims Stalin

DMK treasurerM K Stalin today charged ruling AIADMK with "putting an end" to whatever good schemes DMK had implemented in its rule.
In rally here, he said the DMK government had implemented a scheme to convert sea water to drinking water at Narippaiyur in this district. "But as soon as Jayalalithaa came to power she closed the scheme," he alleged.
Stalin claimed it was DMK which had completed the Rs 2,000 crore Hogenakkal Integrated drinking water project to solve the drinking water needs of the people of Krishnakiri and Dharmapuri districts.
"But no maintenance was done on the project after AIADMK came to power," he claimed.

He also alleged that Jayalalithaa had "never met" the public in the last five years in office and was now doing so, seeking votes for the May 16 Assembly polls.
"Jayalalithaa never thought about or met the people for the last five years. Now she is coming to the people and asking for votes," he said.

Stalin also referred to the fishermens' issue, saying about 3,000 fishermen from this district had been arrested and their 300 boatsseized by Sri Lankan navy personnel in the last five years. Apart from this,18 boats had been damaged. But no AIADMK MP had raised the issue in Parliament, he claimed.

AIADMK, he said, had "gone back" on promises made in the 2011 election manifesto, including starting a cold storage unit for fishermens' produce and steps to retrieve Katchatheevu islet.
Stalin assured that all promises in DMK's election manifesto would be kept if the party came to power. These include constructinga medical college in Ramanathapuram, the Malataru Dam project and rebate on students' education loans, he said.
