The All India Kisan Sabha today demanded that the Jharkhand government set up a judicial commission to investigate the lynching of two Muslim men by a group of villagers on suspicion of cattle theft in Godda district.
In a statement, the AIKS urged the Supreme Court to intervene and ensure protection to citizens from cow vigilantes.
"AIKS strongly deplores the tragic incident of mob lynching of two youths - Murtaza Ansari and Charku Ansari - in Godda district of Jharkhand that exposed the cell rule of RSS. AIKS demands the Raghubar Das government led by BJP in Jharkhand to arrest immediately all the culprits and set up judicial commission to probe the mob lynching," it said.
The organisation has said the state government should provide Rs one-crore compensation to the family of each victim.
In the name of cow, it said, vigilante groups are killing people managing livelihood out of the "cattle economy".
According to the state police, the two men were lynched allegedly by a group of enraged villagers early Wednesday. Four people were arrested in connection with the incident on Wednesday, the police are looking for other accused in the case.
The AIKS, however, accused the police of working in connivance with the killers.
