An Indian Air Force officer posted at the Eastern Air Command (EAC) has died after he fell off a cliff at the Laitlum canyon near here, officials said Monday.
The officer, Shailesh K. Pandey, lost his life after he fell off a 100 ft cliff while on a picnic outing with his friends to Laitlum on Sunday evening, they said.
His body was retrieved successfully after 6 hours of search and rescue by the state fire and emergency rescue service team on Monday, a senior district police officer told PTI.
The body has been handed over to Madanriting Police and necessary procedures will follow as per law.
Defence spokesman Ratnakar Singh confirmed the incident of death of Pandey who is posted at the Air Force station.
