Low-cost carrier Air Pegasus today said it is set to launch thrice-a-week flight to Madurai from here from June 26.
With the announcement, Air Pegasus is taking its footprint to the fourth city in South India in less than three months after its first launch in April, the company said in a release.
Since April, Air Pegasus has launched its flight service to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, Hubballi in Karnataka and Cudappah in Andhra Pradesh, it said.
"As the third largest city of Tamil Nadu after Chennai and Coimbatore, the new flight service is set to add significant value to the economy of Madurai, which is also called as the Athens of the East for its cultural heritage. Moreover, we are the sole operator to Madurai from Bangalore," Air Pegasus Managing Director Shyson Thomas said.
"We are consistent in our promise to connect new cities in South India and will remain committed to the promise with our aggressive approach," he added.
Based out of the Kempegowda International Airport here, Air Pegasus will subsequently scale up its services gradually to connect Kochi, Chennai, Belgaum, Rajahmundry and Puducherry and several more cities in the region, the company said.
Decor Aviation, which owns and operates Air Pegasus, is part of the Decor Group of Companies providing ground handling services to Indian and foreign carriers across 11 airports in India.
