Candidate of Democratic Students Federation (DSF) was in the lead for the post of Joint Secretary as the traditional ballot paper counting went on for over 48 hours.
AISA candidate Akbar Chowdhary was in the lead in a race with DSF's Ishan Ahmed, SFI's Rahul N, NSUI's Pran Veer Singh, ABVP's Alok Kumar Singh and Concerned Student's Chandrasen.
Also in the presidential race is Kazakh rpt Kazakh national Akhmetbekov Zhassulan, contesting from Chhatra Janta Dal (U).
According to the trends, Anubhuti Agnes Bara and Sandeep Saurabh, also AISA candidates, were leading for the post of vice president and general secretary.
Bara is leading for the VP post with 1,325 votes followed by DSF's Zeeshan (503), while Saurab is leading for the post of general secretary with 948 votes followed by NSUI's Caroline (526).
The only post where AISA is placed second is for joint secretary in which DSF candidate Sonam Goyal is leading with 1,256 followed by AISA's Sarfaraz (1,050).
"AISA is leading in three of top four posts of JNUSU," Chowdhary, AISA's presidential candidate, said.
These were the trends till 8.30 PM as the counting of votes was on for the central panel. The counting of votes is expected to go on post midnight with results expected in the wee hours tomorrow.
There were eight candidates fighting for the post of president, five for vice-president, six for general secretary and three for joint secretary.
DUSU results were declared yesterday in which BJP's ABVP wrested control from Congress' NSUI, by winning three out of four top posts.
Last year, V Lenin Kumar, the candidate from the SFI-JNU, (now known as DSF which was formed by students expelled from SFI) and AISF alliance, was elected as JNUSU president.
The other three posts had gone to AISA.
This year's student election in JNU has also been in news since for the first time an openly gay candidate has contested for a post in the central panel.
