Following stiff opposition from Sikh outfits like Dal Khalsa to the pardon granted to the Dera Sacha Sauda chief, the Jathehdar of Akal Takht today announced setting up of a committee to discuss the entire issue.
The Jathedar of Akal Takht, the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs, has also asked all religious, political outfits, Sikh scholars and intellectuals to send their opinions and views with regard to the pardon granted to Sirsa-based Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
Various Sikh outfits including Dal Khalsa and SAD (Panch Pardani) have rejected the decision of Akal Takht last week to pardon the Dera chief for his alleged blasphemous act in 2007.
The Jatehdar said the committee by the Akal Takht would seek opinions from home and abroad with regard to pardon granted to the Dera chief.
He said the Akal Takht was ready to discuss the facts again and take a call accordingly.
