Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today stressed on promoting use of scientific methods in agriculture besides redressing the problems of farmers.
Addressing farmers of the state through video conferencing, Yadav said that like India, farmers of developed countries also have to face the fury of nature but since they have alternative arrangements they are able to face such calamities in a better way.
The chief minister asked the officials concerned to work out ways and means through which scientists are able to reach out to farmers and provide them necessary inputs to better their farming, an official release said.
Stressing that his government has declared the current year as "farmers' year", he said that several schemes are being run related to roads, bridges, electricity for the betterment of farmers and rural life.
Giving details of the help extended to farmers hit by untimely rains and hailstorm, he said that his government was providing maximum compensation in the country to them.
Meanwhile Akhilesh has warned doctors against defaming their profession saying that his government will not tolerate unprofessional behaviour.
"Medicine is a noble and pious profession ... Most of the doctors are working with dedication and serving patients but there are some whose acts are earning a bad name to this professions and the government will not tolerate this", he was quoted as saying in another release.
