A 7.1 magnitude earthquake today struck southern Alaska, US seismologists said.
The quake occurred at 1600 IST near Pedro Bay at a depth of 104 kilometers, according to scientists with the US Geological Survey.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries or damage.
The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said there was no risk of a tidal wave "because the earthquake is located too deep inside the earth.
