Doctors who are treating the 28-year-old 'Easy A' actress are planning to put her under the hold, in which they can keep her confined and medicated for up to one year, reported TMZ online.
A judge may grant the LPS Hold on the behest of the doctors if the person is "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism."
The patients may be treated at a hospital or a facility so that the doctors can put them on medications against their will. Her doctors will request a judge to put her under the LPS Hold within a week after she is fully diagnosed.
Her involuntary hold then apparently was extended for two more weeks.
Last year, Bynes received treatment after she showed erratic behaviour which ended up with her allegedly trying to set fire in a stranger's driveway. Recently, the former child actress also showed bizarre behaviour after being arrested for DUI in late September.
