Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today met Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and discussed the expansion of his Cabinet in the state.
According to sources, their meeting lasted around an hour and they would likely meet again tomorrow to chalk out the Cabinet expansion plan.
The expansion was pending for a long time and many senior MLAs were looking forward to taking ministerial berths.
The sources said Gandhi had sought a list of the seniority of party MLAs in the state before taking a call on the expansion.
The legislators in the race are Rakesh Pandey, OP Soni, Rana Sodhi, Vijay Inder Singla and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, among others.
Currently, there are only nine ministers in Singh's Cabinet, including him. The Cabinet cannot exceed 15 per cent of the total legislators.
