Amethi would now witness development work: Smriti Irani

Attacking the Congress, HRD Minister Smriti Irani today said the people of Amethi, to whom promises were made in the past, would now witnesses development.
Launching an indirect attack on the Nehru-Gandhi family, including Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, at a meeting in Salon town in Rae Bareli, Irani said after years of promises this time development work will start soon.
"The grandparents said it and now he (Rahul) is making promises. They all had been making promises, but the people here are yet to have facility of railway line. This time the work will start soon," Irani said.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi is the current MP from Rae Bareilly constituency while Rahul Gandhi is the MP from Amethi.
The Union Minister, who contested against Rahul in Amethi in the last Lok Sabha election, deposited the first premimum amount for 25,000 families in the district under PM Jan Dhan scheme.
She also said that 25,000 women, including Anganwadi workers, would be associated with the scheme before Diwali.
Irani said during her last visit on May 2 farmers told her about the fertiliser problem, after which it was made available.
The Union Minister's programme was earlier scheduled at New Mandi place, but due to lack of permission from the administration it was held on the premises of Janta cold storage.
