Amit Mitra assure paint industry of all kinds of assistance

A day after the two-day Bengal Global Summit, West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra today urged the leading paint companies in the state to invest in a big way assuring them of all kind of assistance for growth.
Speaking at the conference of the Indian Paint Association here this evening, Mitra conveyed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's message wanting more paint companies to invest in the state.
In order to enhance job opportunities in the state, Mitra suggested that the paint industry could enter into tie-ups with ITIs, polytechnic institutions to help in the skill-development.
Stressing that land would not be a problem for setting up of industries, Mitra said that the state has 3,500 acres of land ready in industrial parks while another 3,500-acre would be added to it in near future.
Highlighting that West Bengal has huge opportunity in paint sector, the Finance Minister cited that lots of projects like new townships, several hospitals, schools, universities were coming up in the state spurring the demand for paint both in domestic and industrial segments.
He also mentioned the greenfield private airport project which is coming up on 1800 acres of land in Ondal near Durgapur.
"State is also building 40 multi-super facility hospitals in the state of which 34 are in the backward region," Mitra said.
He also spoke of 341 ITIs and eight I-T hubs which are coming up in the state.
He urged the paint industry for greater collaboration with academia to initiate better research programs.
