Cupid has been portrayed in the comics as an ex-special operations soldier, whose strength and emotions were both manipulated in an experiment-gone-wrong, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Gumenick's version of the character will develop an obsessive love for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), and thus try to win his affections at all costs.
The villain was created by 'Arrow' executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who said that he has long wanted to introduce Cupid into the CW show.
"When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last," Kreisberg said.
Season three will also include a guest appearance from Nolan Funk as Felicity Smoak's former flame, while Matt Ward will play DC villain Komodo.
It has also been confirmed that Rila Fukushima will take over the role of Katana from Devon Aoki.
