Anita's Attic, a creative writing and mentorship programme run by author Anita Nair since 2015 in Bengaluru, has tied up with Penguin Random House with an aim to nurture and empower new literary talent.
"As we prepare to commence the next session of Anita's Attic on June 30, we are very pleased to announce a partnership with Penguin Random House India," says Nair.
As part of this non-commercial partnership, Penguin Random House India will facilitate visiting lecturers and publishing professionals at the Attic, provide books that might be useful to the Attic programme participants in their creative journey, and offer publishing experience to the Attic students by way of short internships at Penguin's office in Gurgaon, she says.
Anita's Attic's aim is to help individuals locate and explore their core strength to write stories in a compelling and engaging manner. The programme is designed to help introduce the participant to the writing process.
"Anita's Attic has been a launch pad to promote the best talent through agent networking, publishing, and state-of-the-art marketing tools. The unique format of the program has already groomed many writers to get their work published and signed up by renowned publishing houses," says Nair.
Nair is the author of books like "The Better Man", "Ladies Coupe", "Mistress", "Lessons in Forgetting" and "Cut Like Wound".
She has also published a collection of poems titled "Malabar Mind", a collection of essays, written two plays and the screenplay for the movie adaptation of her novel "Lessons in Forgetting", which won a National Film Award in 2013.
