Dilip Mondal, a farmer of Goaltore area in West Midnapore district allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison last night.
His family members claimed that Mondal consumed poison as he did not get remunerative price for his crops.
However, Additional Superintendent of Police (Hq) Anshuman Saha said Dilip Mondal of Goaltore area last night allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison due to family problems.
With Mondal's death, the toll of farmer suicides in West Bengal rose to 13, nine of them in Burdwan district in about a month. Two other such incidents took place in Malda and one in Jalpaiguri district.
