A poster campaign began as the ongoing agitation of All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANSCU) against non-release of Post Matric Scholarship for 3615 eligible students entered its second phase today.
With the concept of Smart City in progress, ANCSU through its poster campaign expressed "first smart education, next smart city".
The first phase of agitation, which started on November 20 and is still in progress is in the form of wearing black badges by college students throughout the state.
Lamenting that the Central government had released its share of 90 per cent in February, ANCSU maintained the scholarship amount has not been disbursed to the students due to delay in release of state government's share of 10 per cent.
"Scholarship is for students and not for civil deposit and also not for politicians and bureaucrats," read a poster pasted outside ANCSU office here.
ANCSU general secretary Benjongakum Longchar said only after several representations, ultimatum and commencement of the first phase of agitation, the government on Friday assured to release the scholarship by second week of December.
However, he said, as a students' organisation "we cannot accept the government excuse in continuing to hold back the scholarship which is meant for the students' community".
"Why do we have to beg for our scholarship every year," the students questioned the government through the poster campaign.
