Afghan Ambassador to India Shaida Mohammad Abdali said any solution to the problem should be "Afghan-centric".
He was speaking at a seminar on 'Indo-Afghan Relations' at Jamia Millia Islamia.
However, he did not make any specific reference to the initiative taken by Russia, China and Pakistan last December to find a solution to the Afghan problem and its national reconciliation.
The initiative was later expanded with the involvement of India and Iran.
Speaking at the seminar, former Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Jayant Prasad said the short-term strategic involvement must be aimed at making the strife-torn country stable again.
Abdali referred to India's assistance in Afghanistan's infrastructure building and said that no other country has made such immense contribution in its rebuilding process.
