AP govt to set up I-Hub in Vizag to promote digital learning:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Thursday said the state government has accorded highest priority for education, particularly digital learning, to make it stress-free.

Addressing delegates at UNESCO-MGIEP's Tech 2018 conference here, Naidu said the government has established 5,000 digital classrooms and 4,000 virtual classrooms in thestate and the number would be increased soon.

Noting that his government has been utilising technology in a major way for transparency, accountability and corruption-free governance, the Chief Minister said technology was applied to all the government departments including agriculture sector.

Claiming that his government was number one in using technology and 'ease of doing' business (in the country), he said technology has helped a lot in this regard.

Later talking to reporters, Naidu said, in association with the UNESCO-MGIEP, the state government would establish I-Hub in Visakhapatnam to promote digital learning.

He said the state government has decided to allocate land for the I-hub and asked the organisers to pursue the matter before the third edition of the conference scheduled to be held in 2019.

"Learning is a continuous process.. we can learn many things by playing games also.. education should be fun and not a punishment.. Digital leaning will help children to learn many things," he said.

UNESCO-MGIEP has launched the second edition of Transforming Education Conference for humanity(TECH-2018) in collaboration with the Andhra Pradeshgovernment.

Director of UNESCO-MGIEP, Anantha Duraiappah said Tech2018 will showcase the role of games and digital learning in enabling a shift from 'transmissive pedagogies' to 'transformative pedagogies' to create peaceful and sustainable societies.

"Eventually the goal of all education needs to be sustainable peace and development," he said.

Nearly 1,000 delegates including educationists, researchers, policy makers and ministers from 62foreign countries took part in the three-day conference.
