AP panel to consider Telangana's request for Secretariat

The Andhra Pradesh government today decided to constitute a Cabinet sub-committee to look into Telangana government's request for handing over certain blocks in the Secretariat in Hyderabad that are in the former's possession.
The AP government relocated its departments from the Secretariat in Hyderabad to its new transitional headquarters at Velagapudi in the capital region Amaravati but continued to keep the five blocks in its possession as Hyderabad continues to be the joint capital till the year 2024.
The Telangana Cabinet had last week adopted a resolution requesting the AP government to hand over the Secretariat blocks so that they too could be dismantled along with the blocks under its control.

The Governor's office wrote a letter to the AP Chief Secretary in this regard, citing the Telangana Cabinet resolution.
The AP Cabinet that met for six hours here this evening, discussed the Telangana government's request and decided to constitute a Cabinet sub-committee without directly accepting or rejecting the request.
"We discussed the issue in detail. There are several issues involved in this and also many problems related to the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. So, the Cabinet decided to constitute a sub-committee to look into all these issues and suggest future course of action," Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu told reporters after the meeting.

A formal Government Order in this regard would be issued soon, he said.
Asked if the Cabinet sub-committee would look into the contentious issues related to Schedules 9 and 10 of the AP Reorganisation Act, the Finance Minister said "you will get the details in the GO".
The Cabinet also decided to constitute another sub-committee to look into the Krishna River Water Tribunal's recent ruling and take further legal action necessary.
