Andhra Pradesh police is working on procedural modalities to take Bilal Malik and Panna Ismail, arrested in Puttur about 120 kilometers from here on October five, into custody.
"We will file a Prisoner Transit (PT) Warrant and take them into our custody and conduct investigations in due course of time," Kanthi Rana Tata, Superintendent of Police, Chitoor District told PTI.
An attempt to murder (307 IPC) charge read with Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC has been slapped against the duo in connection with the attack on Tamil Nadu Police Inspector Lakshmanan during the Puttur operation, he said.
"Cases have been filed against them under various sections of the Arms Act, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Explosive Substances act," he said.
The Andhra Pradesh police wanted to know why they chose Puttur and and if they had any plans to disrupt peace in Andhra Pradesh, he said.
On reports that the duo tried to sabotage the Brahmotsavam festival in Tirumala, he said there was no evidence on that aspect.
Along with a huge haul of explosives, Bilal Malik and Panna Ismail were arrested after a 12-hour operation by Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh's OCTOPUS (Organisation To Counter Terrorist Operations) on October 5.
A day before, ''Police' Fakruddin, another key suspect, was arrested in Chennai when he was allegedly trying to sabotage a religious procession.
The terror suspects were arrested in connection with many cases including the 2011 L K Advani pipe bomb and right wing leaders Auditor Ramesh and Vellaiyappan murder cases besides the April 17 BJP Bangalore office bombing case.
