AP to lay foundation stone of new capital Amravati on Oct 22

Andhra Pradesh government will perform foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new state capital Amaravati in Guntur district on October 22 and invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi besides his counterparts from Singapore and Japan for the event.
In a media briefing here after the cabinet meet today, state IT minister P Raghunath Reddy said the government also approved the metro rail project with a cost outlay of over Rs 6,000 crore.
"The cabinet has decided to lay the foundation stone on October 22 on Vijaya Dasami (Dasara). The cabinet also decided to invite our prime minister and prime ministers of Japan and Singapore," he told reporters.
The cabinet also decided to waive 14 per cent VAT on gas for supply to power projects, facilitating 250 mw power generation.
It also approved new excise policy to be effective from July 1, he further said.
