The symbolic protest made by the scribes was against the alleged "inaction" of the state government and its law enforcing agencies for "their failure to solve all pending cases of repeated attacks on media fraternity of the state."

Media houses in the state had banned publication of government news and advertisements for 15 days immediately after the July 15 incident when Arunachal Times Associate Editor Tongam Rina was shot at.

The media fraternity appreciated police action that led to the arrests of 11 persons in the case and identifying the mastermind, but they took serious exception that the gunman who fired at the journalist was still at large, the organisations said in a press release today.
