The incident occurred last night as the dacoits forcefully entered the house of one Sandeep under Muradnagar police station, held the entire family hostage on gunpoint and looted the cash and ornaments, Deputy SP Pandey said.
As the dacoits were decamping with cash and ornaments Sandeep (35) and his mother Rajbala resisted and raised alarm upon which the robbers opened fire and injured them, he said.
Villagers assembled at the spot and tried to encircle the dacoits upon which they fired in the air and fled with the booty, the Deputy SP said.
