"The Zojila Day was celebrated at the Zojila War Memorial, Gumri (Dras,) today. This day marked 67th anniversary of the Indian Army's historic win over the Pakistani regulars and infiltrators, and helped recapture the strategic Zojila Pass - the gateway to Ladakh region", a defence spokesman said.
He said that the 1948 victory ensured that Ladakh remained an integral part of India.
The 'Zojila Day' was conducted by the 'Golconda Gunners' under the aegis of eight Mountain Division.
"The unit took up the task of renovating the War Memorial which at nearly 12,000 feet remains buried under snow for five months in a year. The event was attended by Army personnels from Dras and Kargil, as well as a large number of tourists", he said.
