Army jawan falls into gorge in J-K near LoC, dies

A 20-year-old army jawan died after he fell into a gorge during his patrolling duty near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, officials said.
Sepoy Surinder of Rajput Regiment lost balance and fell into gorge in Tangdhar sector, the officials said.
They said the critically injured jawan was immediately evacuated to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Hailing from Indore, the jawan had joined the services only last year.
This was the third incident of its kind since June this year.
Two Army personnel including an officer met with similar fate during patrolling in Gurez Sector of Bandipora district of north Kashmir on June 12 and August 9.
