Army today sent a group of unemployed youths from the border district of Rajouri on a ten-day industrial tour to North India under "Operation Sadbhavana".
The tour, which was organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion based at Hanjanwali under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) was flagged off by the Dean of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Dr A K Kaul from Rajouri, a defence spokesman said here.
The aim of the tour is to provide exposure to modern industrial infrastructure of North India and self-employment opportunity options for enterprising youths, he said.
During the tour, the youths will get opportunity to visit numerous Small Scale Industries at Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Jaipur, he said.
The participants, four of whom are students of BGSBU, have participated in an orientation-cum-training programme conducted at Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Jammu from August 26 to September 6, to help them gain maximum benefit from the visit, the spokesman said, adding that they will also be provided professional career counselling during the tour.
The youths will also get opportunities to interact with the President of India and Governor of Rajasthan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kaul appreciated the Army's efforts in ensuring peace and progress of the state and said, this exposure would contribute in honing the personalities of these youth.
