"All the formalities have been completed and the work on the project will start very soon," the Lieutenant General informed Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal in a meeting here.
The Army is currently operating the SSC from a provisional campus at Kapurthala. Once construction is completed, it will be moved to Rupnagar, he said.
Badal asked Lt Gen Singh to send a detailed proposal regarding the Service Selection for which the state government had alloted 200 acres land.
"This premier institute has produced several eminent Army officers, who are serving the country in various capacities, so it is the bounden duty of the state government to provide every sort of help to it," Badal said.
Lauding the Chief Minister for setting up Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for girls on the lines of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Academy, the Lieutenant General said, "This is the first centre in the country, which enables girls to get selected in the armed forces."
