Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Priya Sethi today reviewed the arrangements of the ongoing Amarnath yatra and said the state government has made elaborate arrangements for its smooth conduct.
"The Jammu and Kashmir government has made elaborate arrangements for a smooth yatra," she said.
The minister took a tour of the facilitation points for pilgrims set up by the administration.
She started the tour from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar and later visited Sangam Palace, Vaishnavi Dham, railway station, Purani Mandi temple and Mahajan Hall.
After interacting with yatris at Bhagwati Nagar, Sethi said the government is well equipped to ensure a smooth yatra and fool-proof arrangements have been put in place to ensure safety and security of pilgrims.
She directed the administration to ensure that registered yatris are cleared for the onward journey to the cave shrine as also their comfortable stay at Yatri Niwas.
"Due to the unfortunate incidents in the Valley, the yatra had to be suspended for some time, but now that the government has made all required arrangements, it has resumed," she said.
Sethi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chaired a high-level meeting and extended all the necessary support to the state for improving the law-and-order situation.
She went around the dormitories, langar hall and other facilities at Yatri Bhawan and directed the JMC Commissioner to ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness there.
